Side Effects:
This medication may cause diarrhea, constipation, stomach ache,
nausea, gas, loss of appetite, headache or dizziness the first few
days as your body adjusts to it.
If these effects persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
Unlikely but tell your doctor if you develop back or joint pain,
nervousness, sleep disturbances, cough, chest pain, unusual thirst,
change in amount of urine or vision changes.
This medication may rarely cause loss of hair, ringing in the ears,
swelling of stomach or fatigue.
In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug,
seek immediate medical attention.
Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling,
dizziness or trouble breathing. . 
Precautions:
Before using this medication tell your doctor your medical history
especially of liver or kidney disease or of any drug allergies.
This medication should be used only when clearly needed during
pregnancy.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
It is not known if this drug is excreted into breast milk.
Because of the potential for adverse effects for the infant, breast-feeding
is not recommended while taking this drug.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor before breast-feeding.
The elderly may be especially sensitive to this drug.

Interaction With Other Substances;
Alcohol:
Decreased omeprazole effect.
Beverages:
Caffeine drinks. Decreased omeprazole effect.
Cocaine:
None expected.
Foods:
Spicy or highly seasoned. Decreased omeprazole effect.
Marijuana:
None expected.
Tobacco:
Decreased omeprazole effect. 
Interaction With Other Drugs;
Anticoagulants (warfarin, coumadin, indandione derivatives)
Increased anticoagulant effect. May require dosage adjustment.
Diazepam
Delayed excretion and therefore increased concentration of diazepam.
Phenytoin Delayed excretion and therefore increased concentration
of omeprazole. 
Overdose
Symptoms:
Severe drowsiness, seizures, breathing difficulty, decreased body
temperature.
What To Do:
- Dial 0 (operator) or 911 (emergency) for an ambulance or medical
help. Then give first aid immediately.

Common:
Abdominal pain, itching skin. Discontinue. Call doctor right away.
Infrequent:
Muscle pain; dizziness, headache, drowsiness; chest pain, diarrhea,
gaseousness.
Discontinue. Call doctor right away.
Rare:
Weakness or unusual tiredness, sore throat, fever sores on mouth,
unusual bleeding or bruising, cloudy urine, difficult or painful
urination. Discontinue. Call doctor right away.
